Juniper Advisory Comments on West Pennsylvania Jameson Health Merger in Modern Healthcare

Modern Healthcare LogoJuniper Advisory’s Rex Burgdorfer was quoted in the Modern Healthcare article “UPMC strengthening presence north of Pittsburgh with Jameson merger.” The article covered the signing of a letter of intent by Pittsburgh-based UPMC to acquire Jameson Health System, a 218-bed, two-campus hospital system based in New Castle, PA, 75 miles north of Pittsburgh. The acquisition is part of an uptick in M&A activity in west Pennsylvania, which includes the recent partnership between Conemaugh Health System and Duke LifePoint.

Referring to UPMC and Allegheny Health Network, another west Pennsylvania market consolidator, Burgdorfer noted, “Small systems like Jameson are understandably trying to figure out where they fit into that landscape among those two behemoths.”
