Freeman Health System Completes Expansion into Northwest Arkansas
Transaction Announcement
Freeman Health System has completed its acquisition of Northwest Health, a four-hospital subsidiary of Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH), including facilities in Bentonville, Springdale, Siloam Springs, and Johnson, Arkansas.
The transaction represents a significant regional expansion for Freeman and reflects the continued trend of nonprofit health systems growing through acquisitions of community hospitals from for-profit operators. With the transaction complete, Northwest Health officially joins Freeman’s integrated, community-focused care network, strengthening access to coordinated healthcare services across Northwest Arkansas and the broader Four-State region.
The acquisition includes four hospitals, associated outpatient centers, and physician practices, bringing more than 1,500 physicians, caregivers, and team members into the Freeman Health System network.
As part of Freeman’s nonprofit healthcare model, the organizations plan to continue investing in clinical programs, specialty services, workforce development, and technology enhancements to strengthen patient care and long-term community health outcomes throughout the region. Patients will continue receiving care without interruption, with no immediate changes to services, providers, or care teams.
This transaction advances Freeman Health System’s long-term strategic vision to expand access to coordinated, locally focused healthcare while supporting sustainable community investment across the region.
