Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center Joins CHRISTUS Health

Transaction Announcement
Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC) located in Alamogordo, NM has joined CHRISTUS Health headquartered in Irving, TX. Located in the high desert at the base of the Sacramento Mountains near both the White Sands National Park and Holloman Airforce Base, GCRMC has served the needs of South Central New Mexico since 1949.

GCRMC initiated a process to assess strategic alternatives in early 2022 and selected CHRISTUS as the partner of choice in late 2022. As part of the transaction, CHRISTUS will fund a new local foundation with $240 million, invest $100 million of capital over ten years, grow clinical capabilities, improve quality, build operational resilience, enhance physician recruiting and retention efforts, implement integrated information technology systems, and expand into other markets. With these investments, GCRMC solidifies its role as a leading medical and economic engine of the region.

Juniper’s Role
The Board of GCRMC engaged Juniper Advisory to proactively assess its strategic alternatives and to implement a process to evaluate a range of structural options. Juniper designed and managed a comprehensive market-clearing transaction, drafted information materials, assembled an electronic data room, conducted reverse due diligence, and negotiated the agreement between the parties.
