Port Huron Hospital Joins McLaren Health Care
Port Huron Hospital (PHH), an independent 501(c)(3) hospital in Port Huron, MI, has joined McLaren Health Care, an integrated nonprofit system based in Flint, MI. As part of the agreement, McLaren has committed to very significant capital improvements for the Port Huron community, including the construction of a new cancer center and an inpatient tower. McLaren will also invest in service growth, employee and physician commitments, and will provide for significant local board decision-making. PHH will become McLaren’s 12th member hospital and will benefit from the system’s commitment to high-quality, accessible healthcare for the Port Huron community, Blue Water, and Thumb areas of Michigan.
Juniper’s Role
The Board, having determined that it was in the best interest of the community for PHH to join a larger system, engaged Juniper Advisory to implement a fair and competitive process to seek partnership proposals. Juniper designed and managed a process that included helping the Board establish its objectives, identifying and qualifying potential suitors, drafting information materials, guiding the Board through the sale process, and negotiating the letter of intent and definitive agreement. McLaren’s proposal was selected from among a number of different types of transaction options from both nonprofit and investor-owned suitors. Real experts will be by your side, if you are considering your legal rights in an injury claim.
